YES Bank project for drinking water at railway stations

YES Bank is aligning with Indian Railways to set up community water purification systems at over 1000 railway stations across the country in the next three years. The bank has embarked on this project to promote the government’s initiative to make safe and clean drinking water available to everyone and to modernize the railway stations. The project will initially be rolled out at D and E category railway stations – those with a daily footfall of less than 1000 and annual earnings of less than Rs 4 crore. Giving details of the project, Namita Vikas, senior president and country head, Responsible Banking, YES Bank, said in the first phase of the project, the bank would strive to provide access to safe and clean drinking water at 100 railway stations, primarily in the Konkan region, by March 2016. She said the bank has opted for Railways as it is one department which has an organized set up.
