Vijaya Bank has entered into an MoU with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation for enabling all HPCL retail outlets with BHIM/UPI merchant solutions. The bank had done a pilot at five outlets earlier and has now scaled it up to enable UPI acceptance in all HPCL outlets throughout Karnataka over the next few weeks. All the petrol pump attendants and LPG delivery personnel will now be able to accept digital payments. Customers can make payments by scanning a payment QR code, using BHIM Vijaya or any BHIM app that supports payments via UPI. R.A. Sankaranarayanan, MD and CEO of the bank, and G.S.V. Prasad, ED of HPCL, exchanged the documents. The arrangement has been part of the central government’s initiative to promote BHIM/UPI. Sankaranarayanan said Vijaya Bank has always been in the forefront of new digital initiatives initiated by the center and the bank will continue its efforts to provide a robust digital ecosystem across the country, including rural India.
