Citibank India has launched Ultima Infinite, a lifestyle card for the uber rich, in Singapore, Hong Kong and India. Citi is yet to launch the Ultima range in the west, even though the first Ultima card was launched in Asia in 2004. It is the only black card, as exclusive cards are known informally, to be launched first in the east. Muge Yuzuak, managing director, Cards, Unsecured Loans and Acquiring, Citi India, said in this part of the world, the profile of the rich has changed and there has emerged a group of the richer within the rich, called the uber rich. Ultima Infinite is the second by-invitation-only black card to be launched in India after the American Express Centurion Card, which was launched in December 2012. But it was launched first in the west. Yuzuak did not reveal the number of Ultima Infinite cards issued in India. But she does reveal that for every 100 people who qualify for the entry level Ultima, only five meet the requirements for Ultima Infinite.
