Ujjivan Financial Services, which is planning to launch its small finance bank in January is looking to add over 2000 people in the next few quarters, according to its MD and CEO Samit Ghosh. He said the small bank would begin with 10,000 people while the current headcount is 7800. The company is looking to hire senior people in the areas like risk management, channel management, marketing and liability. Ghosh said the bank would like to have about 260 branches within three months after the launch of small finance bank. The bank will start with a large number of branches like what Bandhan did, he said adding this will be risky. Ujjivan plans target small and medium enterprises for lending besides its existing micro borrowers. It also plans to target housing loans. According to Ghosh, the challenge going forward is to ensure deposits from unorganised and unbanked sector. The existing about 30 lakh customers may be able to provide 40% of the liability, he said.
