Alert security and branch staff of SVC Bank had thwarted 2 attempts to con customers at the bank’s ATMs in Mumbai by putting skimming devices. The bank said in a statement one of the incidents took place at the bank’s ATM at Dadar where the fraudsters had installed a skimming device in the ATM to steal debit card details of customers. The staff discovered the skimming device during a routine check and reported the matter to the police and a FIR was lodged, based on CCTV footage. In a similar incident, bank’s officials discovered a similar device being installed in an ATM at Sandhurst Road branch of the bank. The attempt by the fraudsters was foiled by the bank’s staff and the suspects were apprehended. They were later handed over to the police. The bank subsequently advised customers who had used the ATMs and blocked their cards.
