Standard Chartered Bank has launched a special sign language service proposition for hearing-impaired priority segment clients in the country. Currently, the bank has trained 13 frontline employees who will be assigned to designated branches in five cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai, to provide this service in Indian sign language. However, if a hearing-impaired priority segment client walks into any other branch that does not have a similarly trained employee, the branch team can arrange a video call engagement with a trained employee.
The bank is also working on creating product offer videos in sign language to help hearing-impaired customers understand these products. On the anvil is also a central video helpline to service all such clients in Indian sign language.
These initiatives are part of the bank’s collaboration with Purple Tuesday, a flagship programme that helps businesses develop products and services for clients with disabilities.
