Standard Chartered Bank Uganda has aligned with MTN Uganda to enable corporate clients to pay services providers on the mobile money platform. The bank’s CEO Herman Kasekende said the Ugandan government is working towards a cashless economy, to maximize operational efficiencies and mitigate the risks associated with cash payments and the bank remains committed to creating partnerships which not only enhance the local financial sector’s proposition and infrastructure, but also improve its customers’ experience and operational efficiencies. The service, ‘Straight2Bank’, will enable the bank’s clients to make payment directly into the individuals’ MTN Mobile Money wallet which saves time and also mitigates the risks of fraud and theft associated with cash payments.
