Sri Lanka’s People’s Bank has just opened a fully digitized bank branch. Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe opened the new branch at York Street in Colombo. This is the first fully digitized bank branch in Sri Lanka. The bank has also launched express banking to allow customers to experience how its digitization initiatives will streamline and simplify their financial affairs by offering speed and convenience. Initially, customers visiting the digital center will have bank staff on hand to assist them to navigate Express Banking on electronic devices provided by the bank until they feel comfortable to conduct transactions without assistance. People’s Bank intends to become the most digitized bank by 2020.
