One of the world’s largest security services company – G4S -is proposing to open mobile or high street banking units in the UK and five other European countries. G4S is an acknowldged service provider for central banks and financial services institutions the world over of armoured vehicles and secure locations to transport and store cash. The company company said it is now in discussion with some of the biggest banks in the UK, Netherlands, Cyprus, Greece, Belgium and Ireland over the launch of high street branches. The move is part of G4S’s attempts to rebuild its business, which employs 620,000 staff in 110 countries. The idea is to provide cash handling and depositing services for customers of different lenders from the same outlet. The move comes in the backdrop of banks in the UK and across Europe retreating from the high street as they offer more services online and on mobile.
