SBI Pinkathon held

14121The fourth edition of SBI Pinkathon, an international run for women, was held at the MMRDA ground in Bandra in Mumbai. The race intended to empower Indian women is an initiative to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle for women and issues like breast cancer and bone health. More than 10,000 women across age groups and from all different segments of the society participated in the 3 km, 5 km, VOLINI 10 km and 21 km categories. Pinkathon founder and model Milind Soman flagged off the run.

Arundhati Bhattacharya, chairman, SBI, and several other enthusiasts were present on the occasion to support the noble cause. Among the participants in the run were a group 38 visually impaired girls running the 3 km distance with enthusiasm. Additionally the run witnessed a squad of cancer survivors who participated in 3 km and 5 km distance. Around 25 baby wearing mothers carrying babies just a few months old walked the 3 km distance. The run had participants as young as 5 months and as old as 79 years. Milind Soman, Founder Pinkathon said SBI Pinkathon is more than a marathon as it is the seed of change. Arundhati Bhattacharya said the bank is proud to be a partner in this great initiative for women and it is a run for women, of women, by women. Running is an incredibly effective way of making a healthier and smarter you. It helps you balance your weight, prevent disease, enhance your mood and boost your confidence, she said.
