State Bank of India has launched the SBI Green PIN., an easy and convenient tool to generate debit card PIN through various channels including ATM, internet banking, IVR or SMS. Arundhanti Bhattacharya, chairman of the bank, formally launched the facility. The bank said this green initiative is a step towards paperless banking which will benefit both customers and employees of the bank. Employees may not now be required to handle the job of dispatching PIN to customers through mail and such employees can be deployed to other operational tasks. Customers need not wait for the PIN or visit a branch to get the PIN. The bank hopes that Green PIN will considerably reduce the carbon foot print and benefit the customers.
