SBI gives largest ATM contract to NCR

image009State Bank of India has chosen ATM maker NCR for meeting its ATM requirement in the next 7 years. The bank intends to deploy 7070 ATMs during this period and NCR will provide its SelfServ 22e ATMs to the bank. The order, considered the largest for ATMs in India, is valued at Rs 334 crore. As part of the contract, NCR will deploy the machines, provide software solutions and services support to the bank to expand its network. Mrutunjay Mahapatra, DMD and CIO of the bank, said this partnership continues to strengthen the bank’s ATM channel network of more than 57,000 ATMs, of which, NCR has almost half the base supporting more than 4500 locations across India. Navroze Dastur, MD, NCR India, said the ATM is increasingly becoming a global target for crime, and with SBI’s introduction of NCR SelfServ 22e ATMs, embedded with its proprietary Skimming Protection Solutions (SPS), it will help thwart card data breach and notify attacks in real-time. The SelfServ 22e, was conceptualized and ‘Made in India’ specifically for the Indian market and is intuitively designed to handle high transaction volumes and its compact design makes it easier to be deployed in rural locations.
