Citibank has appointed Samiran Chakraborty as chief economist for India. A statement from the bank said India continues to be an extremely important market in today’s global landscape and Chakraborty brings with him a broad base of experience and expertise that will help Citi further articulate the India story. Previously, Chakraborty was MD and head of macro research for South Asia at Standard Chartered Bank. He has served for ICICI as chief economist, and Delhi School of Economics as faculty for mathematical economics and open-economy macro-economics.
