customers – adding more ‘shakti’ for them, says C.VR. Rajendran, CMD, Andhra Bank, explaining the rationale behind the bank’s Navshakti project implementation which began in July 2013. It is a major business transformation project that the bank had undertaken in association with consultancy firm McKinsey. Under this, a series of next generation branches – 90 in all, marking the completion of 90 years of the bank – are being opened offering a wide variety of banking services to the customers 24x7x365. Some 25 branches under the project are already functioning. These branches offer some advanced facilities like cash and cheque deposit machines, kiosks for passbook printing, internet banking, etc. They will have ATMs as well. “We wanted to give a new experience to our customers in retail banking and SMEs through these branches,” says Rajendran, emphasizing that the project also intends to transform the HR management in the bank.
