RBS cutting 450 more jobs

NewsUpdate 30 May 2016_html_6a98296eRoyal Bank of Scotland is cutting 450 more jobs. This will take the total number of job losses in the bank in the last few months to 2600. The bank is curtailing its retail and commercial banking in the UK. About 200 roles have been cut from the bank’s services team across the country, which support a number of divisions. A total of 43 positions will be offshored to India, as a way to recreate similar jobs at a lower cost. It is also removing about 250 roles from its retail bank support team, including operations and customer service jobs. In April, the bank said it would close 32 branches and cut 600 jobs, as footfall continues to decline and more customers turn to mobile banking. Earlier this year, RBS axed 450 positions in the investment banking division, mainly from its back and middle office, as the unit continues to shrink. The bank also slashed 550 adviser jobs, 400 positions from business banking and 200 from its commercial banking division.
