The Reserve Bank of India has told banks to ensure that ATMs they henceforth install shoud have functions like voice interaction and Braille keypads. This is with a view to make these machines more accessible for people with disabilitites. RBI has also said magnifying glasses should be provided at all bank branches to help people with vision impairments. RBI has earlier advised banks that there should be ramps at all the ATMs and one-third of the new ATMS should have voice interaction capability and Braille keypads. The regulatory has also told the banks to devise a roadmap for converting all existing ATMs to voice interactive ATMs with Braille keypads.
