PM highlights startups and unicorns of India in Berlin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz co-chaired a Business Round Table in German. Modi emphasised the government’s broad-based reforms and highlighted India’s growing number of startups and unicorns. He invited business leaders to invest in the youth of India.

High-level government representatives and selected CEOs from both sides attended the event, where they engaged in discussions on topics ranging from climate cooperation to supply chains to research and development.

Indian business delegation, which participated in the round table, included, Sanjiv Bajaj (Head of Indian Delegation) President Designate, CII Chairman and Managing Director, Bajaj Finserv, Dinesh Khara, Chairman State Bank of India; CK Birla, Managing Director and CEO, CK Birla Group; and Deepak Bagla, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Invest India. German business delegation included Christian Sewing, Chief Executive Officer, Deutsche Bank, and Marika Lulay, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, GFT Technologies.

Modi also addressed and interacted with the more than 1600 members of the vibrant Indian community in Germany consisting of students, researchers and professionals. The PM noted their contribution to Germany’s economy and society and enthused them to contribute to India’s ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative by promoting Indian products globally.
