The Reserve Bank of India is releasing new Rs 100 notes. The new notes will be violet in color and will have Gujarat’s Rani Ki Vav image. The size of these notes will be smaller than the existing Rs 100 notes, but little bigger than Rs 10 note. The printing of these new notes has started at the currency printing press at Dewas and the ink and paper used will be sourced from India. The setting at ATMs will have to be changed in order to accommodate these notes and this will be the 4th time when banks will have to make the changes – after the earlier introduction of new Rs 2000, Rs 500 and Rs 200 notes. These notes are expected to be in circulation in August.
