Bangladesh Bank has a new governor. Former finance secretary Fazle Kabir has been appointed to the position immediately after governor Atiur Rahman resigned in the wake of a major hacking of the country’s account with the US Federal Reserve and a sum of $101 million was stolen. The Bangladeshi government also appointed two new directors to the Bangladesh Bank board. Rahman has been criticized for keeping the Bangladesh government in the dark for more than a month about the stealing that made headlines in the country and beyond.
