Munish Mittal, Group Head-IT and CIO at HDFC Bank, has resigned in a surprise move. He is reported to be going abroad to pursue higher studies. The bank also saw the exit of his deputy Rajesh Chavan, who is EVP-IT. The bank has seen several high profile exists in the recent past, including that of Abhay Aima, Group Head, Private Banking, and Ashok Khanna, Group, Head, Secured Vehicle Loans. Aima said he is seeking early retirement. Mittal had been associated with the bank since 1996. He steered his way from an IT manager to the CIO of the group. During his stint at the bank has implemented several technologies such as AI/ML projects, cloud driven tech models, DevOps, new APIs, data analytics, real time monitoring, etc. He was one of the close aides of Aditya Puri, MD of the bank, who is set to retire from the bank in October. The bank said in a statement Mittal has moved on from his professional career to focus on higher studies in a foreign university.
