Dubai’s Mashreq Bank may become a branchless bank using new automation tools and self-service technology. The bank’s CEO Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair revealed this at a function organized to celebrate the bank’s 50th anniversary. The bank has for long been working to make itself more technologically advanced and less reliant on people and manual processes. Al Ghurair said there will be absolutely no need for a customer to visit a branch in future. He will be able to access all the services through various platforms. He said the intention is make the bank a bank without boundaries. Al Ghurair also mentioned the bank would make use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence-based chatbots, which can be deployed in customer service roles, and automation techniques that will replace roles currently occupied by humans.
