Lloyds to launch video mortgage advice

Lloyds Bank is all set to launch a video mortgage advice service to its customers. The video service, which was piloted last year, will enable customers to have a face-to-face interview online, removing the need to travel to a branch or speak to an adviser on the phone. Lloyds retail and consumer finance director David Oldfield said buying a house can be a stressful time for many people, and so for those who are unable or choose not to visit a branch but who still prefer a face-to-face conversation, this video service is a fantastic channel for them to use. It enables the bank to connect more customers to its mortgage experts in the way that is most convenient for them, he said. The bank said the advice service was free, while customers were charged fees for the mortgage. Only a small proportion of customers — less than 10%— would be required to attend the branch to verify their identity.
