Lloyds Banking Group said it will shutting 100 bank branches in 2017. These will include branches of Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland. Lloyds Bank will close 54 branches, followed by Halifax with 22 closures and Bank of Scotland with 24. The closure decision is part of the group’s plans to convert some Lloyds branches into Apple Store-style ‘microbranches’. In 2016, the group said that it was going to shut 400 of its branches across the UK, axing 9,000 jobs. A spokesperson said the 100 branches will close between July and October 2017. The bank said the closures will be offset by the addition of nine new mobile branches across the Lloyds and Bank of Scotland networks.
