India Post Payments Bank has introduced a system whereby pensioners can generate life certificates digitally and deliver these at the doorsteps of the customers. With this innovative service, pensioners will not be required to make a physical visit to the office of the pension disbursing agency. They will be able to generate the life certificate either by visiting the nearest post office or through the Doorstep Banking Service offered by the bank. This service will be offered to all pensioners, irrespective of having an account with India Post Payments Bank or with any other bank as well. The doorstep service in the current scenario of covid is a major boon for pensioners, especially in rural areas. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for Communications, Electronics & IT and Law & Justice said the digital life certificates for pensioners is an effort in digitizing and streamlining the entire process of securing the life certificate. As it uses the Aadhaar platform for biometric authentication of the pensioner, obtaining a certificate is now seamless and hassle free, he added. India Post Payments Bank’s doorstep banking service takes this effort a step further, he added. J. Venkatramu, MD and CEO of the bank, said the bank with its extended reach and the ability to deliver services at the doorsteps of the pensioners in an assisted mode, will facilitate the generation of digital life certificate, which will be based on the integration with an application designed and maintained by National Informatics Centre.
