Karur Vysya Bank opened its first digital center in a rural area. The bank launched the center in a village in Erode district of Tamil Nadu. The branch will have a cash recycler machine helping the villagers to deposit cash at their own convenience, the bank said. Besides, there is a passbook printer and the center is also powered with high speed wi-fi connectivity and has a couple of tablets to enable customers to perform self- service banking and other transactions like train ticket booking, mobile top-ups and so on. Local merchants have been provided with micro ATMs which will enable them to receive payments based on Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS). The bank has already brought on board about 57% of the village’s population by opening their accounts.
