Jairam Sridharan, who left Axis Bank as CFO, has been appointed CEO of the consumer finance business of Piramal Enterprises. Anand Piramal, executive director, Piramal Group, said Jairam Sridharan has rich experience in building a large retail finance business and deep knowledge of technology and analytics, a combination that positions Piramal Group well as it builds a business of the future. Jairam Sridharan has over 2 decades of deep expertise in domestic and international retail finance. As CFO at Axis Bank, he had raised over US$1.8 billion, the largest private equity infusion in banking at the time, and led the finance, strategy, M&A and investor relations functions at the bank. He was also president, retail lending and payments at the bank, where he led the transformation
of bank into a retail bank growing the book 6 times in 5 years. He started his career at ICICI Bank, where he headed the ‘business intelligence unit’ and developed the analytical capabilities of the bank.
