Dhanlaxmi Bank has appointed J.K. Shivan as its MD and CEO. The bank said in a regulatory filing it intends to appoint Shivan as MD and CEO for a period of 3 years as the proposal has been approved by the RBI. The bank’s board had moved a resolution on 26 December as asked by the RBI, for shareholders’ approval via electronic voting for the appointment of Shivan. The resolution was passed with an overwhelming majority of 99.81% and consequently, the RBI gave its approval. The bank is currently managed by a committee of directors (COD) and its tenure is ending on 31 January 2021. Shivan has over 37 years of experience in the State Bank of India and has worked in functional areas like commercial banking. He headed corporate banking, international & forex operations and was also involved in retail advances and agriculture credit. He also has experience as a branch and regional head in SBI. He retired as chief general manager of the stressed assets resolution group at SBI.
