Iran and China would expand their cooperation in the banking sector. Government officials of the two countries, who have been involved in talks about improving banking relations, called for establishing good cooperation between banks of the two countries and underscored the need for setting up Chinese banks’ branches in Iran. China has been among the leading economic and banking partners of Iran particularly after the signing of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran and the six world powers. China is also one of the main business partners of Iran in financing various projects inside the country. In a meeting between the governor of Iran’s Central Bank and China’s ambassador to Tehran, the two sides discussed the banking relations and emphasized on the establishment of banking brokerage, financing projects as well as setting up Chinese banks’ branches inside Iran.
