Employees of ING Vysya Bank are expected to strike work on 7 January, the day on which the shareholders of the bank are to approve the merger of the bank with Kotak Mahindra Bank. The employees union at the bank said it is demanding that all employees of the bank should be taken over by Kotak Bank. The employees of ING Vysya Bank are agitating ever since the merger decision was announced as they feared job losses following the merger. ING Vysya Bank’s 10,591 employees may come under the Kotak fold, but about 4,000 of them who are under the union controlled pay structure could face some issues since there have not been any promise, or road map on how they would be treated.
