Kachudag, a tiny village located at the outskirts of the forest of Ramgarh district in #Jharkhand, has become the 1100th village to be transformed under Holistic Rural Development Program (#HRDP), a flagship initiative of HDFC Bank’s #Parivartan. Through #Parivartan, which is the umbrella brand for all its social initiatives, the bank aims to create sustainable social change. Through HRDP, 63 families of this remote hamlet who rely on agriculture for their livelihood, now earn an additional income of Rs 8000 – Rs 10,000. HRDP has impacted the lives of over 14 lakh people across 16 states in India. It seeks to better village life by focusing on improvements in 5 key areas of education, skills training and livelihood enhancement, natural resources management, water and sanitation and financial literacy and inclusion. Ashima Bhat, group head – CSR at the bank said for India to achieve inclusive growth, holistic development of the villages is important. Through HRDP, HDFC Bank is doing just that by creating sustainable communities across deeper geographies in the country, she added. The bank spent Rs 443.77 crore on CSR in 2018-2019 and met the mandatory 2% expenditure for the third consecutive year.
