HDFC Bank has completed the work it had undertaken to repair, renovate and restore some 14 schools destroyed in the floods in Kashmir. The bank said the renovation work was carried under the Corporate Social Responsibility scheme of the bank. It had joined hands with Society for Action in Community Health (SACH), an NGO, to restore and refurbish these schools. Zubair Iqbal, circle head J&K, and Nusrat Pathan, head Corporate Social Responsibility of the bank, handed over the refurbished premises of Al Huda School, Khayam Chowck, Munawarabad to its management at a function. The bank has already completed restoration of four schools in December 2015, and the remaining 10 schools were handed over to school authorities, it said. The bank had donated Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Rs 1.77 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and the bank’s employees across India donated one-day salary for the relief efforts in J&K.
