Karnataka Bank is setting up a number of e-lobbies with an intention to expand its 24×7 transaction banking services and provide access to its customers to banking services all the time. The bank has concluded a multi-year ATM outsourcing agreement with FIS along with a consulting and outsourcing assignments. The bank said not only will FIS’ support allow it to better focus on its customers, it also will make the bank one of the first mid-sized banks in India to provide e-lobby access, extending more convenient access to its customers and allowing it to better compete with larger banks. The e-Lobby services provided by FIS will provide bank customers with transaction access beyond branch time zones in a digital or self-service form. To the benefit of customers, the digital banking experience channel will cover many of those transactions most common in a full-service branch. Customers of the bank now have the option to make deposits, withdrawals, cheque remittance and other frequent transactions, such as statement request, pin change and passbook printing from a nearby e-Lobby site. FIS is the bank’s premier alternate channel partner, deploying and managing its e-Lobby centers, in addition to the more than 1,000 ATMs it manages for the bank. P. Raja Gopalakrishnan, executive vice president, Global Financial Institutions, FIS, said outsourcing its e-banking services to FIS allowed Karnataka Bank to reinvent the way it interacts with customers, benefiting customers by expanding service while maintaining an eye on the bottom line.
