DBS Bank has donated $25 million to the National Gallery Singapore, earning naming rights for one of the latter’s art galleries. The donation is the biggest that the National Gallery has received. The DBS Singapore Gallery will be opened to the public in October next year, probably coinciding with Singapore’s 50th anniversary celebrations. DBS is a founding partner of the National Gallery, along with Keppel Corporation, but this is DBS’s first monetary donation to the gallery. Last year, the bank donated 26 artworks by Singapore’s leading artists to the gallery. Two of the 26 artworks from DBS’s corporate art collection were unveiled and thee were by acclaimed artists Cheong Soo Pieng and Anthony Poon.
