There has been a marked increase in the number of customers are approaching the Banking Ombudsman seeking redressal of their grievances about deficiency in service by banks. The number of such complaints have increased by 35.36% in 2015-16, according to Banking Ombudsman for AP and Telangana. He said his office received a total of 5910 complaints in 2015-16. Reasons for this increase are e-banking and usage of credit and ATM cards. Besides, there were many pension-related complaints, he added. While 26.61% of the complaints came from customers of nationalized banks, 26.26% of the complaints were from the State Bank of India alone, he added.
