Chanda Kochhar, MD and CEO, ICICI Bank and Arundhati Bhattacharya, chairman, State Bank of India, are ranked top two in Fortune’s list of most powerful women in Asia Pacific. Kochhar is ranked No1, up from the No 2 position in 2015, while Bhattacharya is at No 2 position, up from No 4 position in 2014. Fortune said Kochhar reshaped banking in the country, and credits her for building ICICI Bank into the India’s largest and most profitable private sector lender. Shikha Sharma, MD and CEO, Axis Bank, is at No 9 in the list. The other Indian in the financial service domain figuring in the list is Sheila Patel, chief executive, International Goldman Sachs Asset Management of Singapore. Six countries are covered by the list. The other Indian in the list is Nishi Vasudeva, CMD, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation.
