Central Depository Services (India), or CDSL, has become the first depository to open 40 million active demat accounts in the country, thus becoming the largest depository in terms of active demat accounts. CDSL’s Managing Director Nehal Vora said the milestones are the result of the hard work and coordination of all the market infrastructure institutions and the market intermediaries. He thanked all the. participants of the capital market for their contribution in accelerating the digital and financial growth of India. CDSL’s major shareholders are Bombay Stock Exchange, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, LIC of India and Standard Chartered Bank.
