Canara Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Biocon Foundation and Orissa Trust of Technical Education (OTTET), to provide a novel e-healthcare project for the underprivileged in Odisha. Through this public private partnership project, quality healthcare will be provided to 51,000 villages in the state. This will be managed by young local ntrepreneurs at all primary health centres. The bank will provide them with financial assistance and Biocon Foundation and OTTET will train them on how to help the medical officers at the PHCs. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, chairperson of Biocon Foundation, said the aim of the project is to strengthen the present public healthcare delivery system in Odisha by providing solutions around primary and secondary healthcare by using technology.
