The UAE central bank is planning to include Braille on the edges of the country’s bank notes to enable blind people to recognise the value of the currency. Part of a broader plan, this will also include modernising ATM machines to meet the needs of people with a disability. A senior official of the central bank said the Braille initiative would initially be included in AED50 and AED100 notes. The central bank would provide the ministry with models, which would then be presented to members of the blind community to select the most appropriate and easiest to identify.
