BofA to open 600 new Merrill Edge centers

Bank of America announced it plans to open 600 more Merrill Edge investment centers across the U.S. by 2020. The investment centers will be added to new and existing BofA financial centers, bringing the total to 2800 nationwide. As part of adding the centers, the bank intends to hire 300 more advisers by the end of this year. Merrill Edge was created in 2010 and is a platform that provides online and in-person investing, trading, brokerage and banking services. The goal is to serve the clients in ways most convenient to them, and the bank has both the brick-and-mortar and the digital presence to do just that, Aron Levine, head of Merrill Edge at BofA, said in a statement. The Merrill Edge centers will be included in the bank’s new Ohio locations, along with Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Lexington, Ky., and Salt Lake City. Investment centers will be added onto existing financial centers in areas such as Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and New York, among others.
