Barclays is proposing to launch a degree-level program in banking. It will the first such offering by any banks in the UK. The program will allow participants to obtain a degree, or equivalent qualification, after they complete the one-year course. The candidates can also specialize in a range of areas of banking, including corporate, investment and retail. A bank spokesperson said the bank wants people of all ages and backgrounds to consider a career in banking – a sector that we know is traditionally viewed as something only university graduates work in. This will the country’s first degree-level apprenticeship in banking so that banking is opened to people from all backgrounds, allowing them to earn and learn, he added.
