The Reserve Bank of India has directed banks to start offering Rs 200 notes through ATMs. It has asked the banks to recalibrate the ATMs accordingly so that more Rs 200 notes can be distributed to the public. RBI feels this will help in increasing the supply of lower denomination notes. RBI has asked banks and ATM manufacturers to ensure that ATMs start dispensing Rs 200 notes as soon as possible.
