Axis Bank is proposing to add 350 to 400 branches this year. The bank currently has 3800 branches. According to Rajiv Anand, executive director-Retail Banking at the bank, the bank will plan to add between 350 and 400 branches in financial year 2018-19 and some 76 branches have already been added in the first quarter. He said while digitization has taken off in metro and urban areas, it is rather slower in the semi-urban and rural areas, which means the bank will have to open branches in these areas. The bank’s mobile banking segment has shown impressive growth, the bank said in a statement.
