Axis Bank has opened a representative office at Dhaka in Bangladesh. P. Mukherjee, group executive (Corporate Relationship and International Relationshio) of the bank said the Indo-Bangladesh trade is growing and opening an office in Dhaka would help in leveraging the opportunity. The bank aims to leverage the growing economic integration between the two countries by actively facilitating trade transactions, both inbound as well as outbound. The bank will also contribute towards employment generation, both directly and indirectly in the country, he added. The bank has already established its presence through branches in Singapore, Hong Kong, DIFC-Dubai, Colombo and Shanghai, representative offices at Dubai and Abu Dhabi and a wholly-owned subsidiary in the United Kingdom. The bank’s total overseas assets stood at $7.51 billion as on 30 September 2015. The bank may consider converting the Dhaka representative office into a full-fledged branch at a later stage, Mukherjee said.
