Axis Bank has launched India’s first internationally-listed certified green bond on London Stock Exchange to finance climate change solutions around the world. The bank, which raised $ 500 million after the launch at LSE, said the proceeds of the bond will be invested in green energy, transportation and infrastructure projects, reinforcing India’s commitment to produce 175,000 MW of renewable power by 2022. LSE CEO Nikhil Rathi said LSE remains committed to build London as premier centre for green bond issuance and green finance and look forward to collaboration with Axis Bank, as it continues to strengthen its presence in the UK. Axis Bank is a long standing and distinguished equity issuer on LSE with the latest issuance building on the far-reaching announcements made during prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit strengthening financial ties between the UK and India, he said.
