Axis Bank has planted a record 1,27,199 saplings of 24 varities in one day across 24 centers involving 7000 volunterrs in 687 branches as part of its ‘#RootForPlanet’ initiative and accordingly it has been recognized by the Limca Book of Records. The program was during 11 hours from 7.30 am on Saturday, 19 September 2015. The #RootForPlanet initiative is aimed at contributing towards a greener environment under the aegis of its Green Banking program. With this initiative, the bank attempts to bring to life the idea that each one of the planet’s inhabitant is responsible towards the planet and the mere act of planting a tree is in fact enabling the people to strengthen its roots. The saplings planted included fruit, timber and flowering trees.
