Indian Bank won the Best Bank award from the government of Tamil Nadu for its support to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the state. CMD of the bank T M Bhasin received the award from state chief minister Jayalalithaa. The bank has reached out to seven lakh SHGs with an aggregate credit of Rs 10,900 crore. The bank operates three rural banks in the Southern region, one among which is Pallavan Grama Bank in Tamil Nadu.
