Ashwani Bhatia is the new Managing Director of State Bank of India (SBI). He would be holding this position up, the fourth MD of the bank along with Dinesh Khara, Arijit Basu, and C.S. Setty. He will be handling IT and Stressed Assets Resolution Group (SARG) of the bank, Bhatia was MD and CEO aet SBI Funds Management, an SBI subsidiary and the country’s largest asset management company. He has over 3 decades of experience in the State Bank Group. He has also been Chief General Manager, Corporate Centre in SBI, where he was responsible for revamping the credit structure and processes of the bank. He began his career in SBI Group in 1985 as a probationary officer. He is a graduate in physics & mathematics and an MBA from Podar Institute of Management, Jaipur.
