Arijit Basu has been appointed managing director of State Bank of India. The position of MD has been lying vacant since Rajnish Kumar has been promoted chairman of the bank. As per the SBI Act, the bank can have 4 MDs. Basu will have a tenure up to October 2020. He was earlier MD at SBI Life Insurance. A graduate in Economics and a Master of Arts in History, Basu started his career with SBI in 1983 as a probationary officer. He has held several key positions in various circles of SBI including the bank’s office at Tokyo. SiBI has also appointed Anil Kishore as deputy managing director and chief risk officer.
