Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) said it has received in-principle approval from the Reserve Bank of India to open two new branches in India. These branches will come up in Gurgaon, NCR, and outer Bangalore, the bank said in a statement. The in-principle approval is for 12 months and the bank will finalize its plans within that time and seek final approval then and decide on the branch openings. ANZ chief executive for international and institutional banking Andrew Geczy said the approval will strengthen the bank’s super-regional strategy, expand its ability to support clients and build on its position as a leading bank in Asia.
