Andhra banks want second DRT

Banks in Andhra Pradesh have requested the government to set up a second debt recovery tribunal in the state in order to reduce the high-pendency of cases and hasten recovery process in high volume loans. S.K. Kalra, ED, Andhra Bank, revealed this measure at the State Level Bankers’ Committee meeting. On kharif loans to farmers, Kalra said farmers were not wiling to repay the loans due to pending loan waiver scheme of the Government. Kalra also requested government not to encourage farmers to look for loan-waivers and enhance agricultural productivity instead.
